Hello GMs!
This newsletter will cover a few last-minute communications and logistical things, but before we get into that: if you haven't yet filled out a Furniture Request for your game on the website, please get that in before the 20th! For more details, see our last newsletter.
Non-Responsive Players
Per the Intercon GM FAQ, if you've been trying to reach a player for more than two weeks and been unsuccessful, please contact our GM coordinator for assistance. If you're on the Intercon Discord, asking in the #gm-chat-x channel is also useful -- other GMs may have good lines of communications to specific players. However, if by the one-month-before-the-con mark the GM coordinator is unable to reach the player, she will work with you to manage your game registration so that you aren't beholden to someone you haven't heard back from.
Freezing Buckets
If your game has multiple buckets and an option for "no preference" or a bucket marked as flexible, this section is for you! Something that can happen under this system is that, after casting the game, someone drops, and a no-preference player who gets their bucket swapped around to accommodate the highest position on the waitlist. To prevent this from happening, the "Freeze bucket assignment" button is your friend! This button, available on the signup view for your event, will essentially hard-assign players to their current buckets, helping to mitigate the difficulties of a late drop.
NPC Badges
Per the Intercon GM FAQ, if you want to bring someone in who is not currently an Intercon attendee to help run your game, please email the GM coordinator saying how many people you would like to provide NPC badges for and why. Staff will let you know how many will be granted; please give a list of names for the badges you have been issued no later than one week in advance of the con (February 19th). These have no cost, and NPC badgeholders can fill in game vacancies at the con but can't sign up for games ahead of time on the website. Like all Intercon attendees, NPC badgeholders must comply with the Intercon covid policy, or will not be permitted to pick up their badge.
Electrical Outlets
Many games might wish to make use of electronics. Bear in mind that outlets may be sparsely distributed in event spaces, especially in ones designed to be subdivided with moveable partition walls. There are outlets in the outer (fixed) walls, but if it matters where exactly your equipment ought to be, please bring an extension cord! Intercon does not have them to loan.
Thank you for your time! See you next month for further last-minute notes.
