In just two weeks, Intercon will begin, so it's important to know where to go! This year, the Con Suite will be in the Grand Foyer, with the Ops desk in a dedicated little nook. Check our hotel FAQ for a map of this. This is where to pick up your badge at the start of the con!
We will once again have a Quiet Room, this year in room 641, adjacent to Parlor D, from Thursday 7PM until Monday 10AM. The purpose of a Quiet Room is to have a quiet space that is available to all con participants. Whether you need to relax, take a nap, or just have some self-care time, the space is available to you. Fidget toys, coloring books with pencils, earplugs, eye-masks, and hotel beds will be available in said space. You can see the hotel room number at Ops and on the Quiet Room Event on the Intercon X site.
Not staying at the hotel and need a place to drop your bags or deal with costuming? Intercon has rented out the bridal suite on the 5th floor by the elevators to serve as our Bag Check/Costuming Room! The room will be clearly labeled, and bags can be left at your own risk.
We’ll be sending out our COVID test attestation form the week of Intercon. Filling out this form is required for all attendees in order to get your badge for the convention and we ask for your negative COVID test result, either PCR or at-home, within 48 hours before your arrival at the convention.
We can not live on larps alone, so we’ve put together a resource for Food at Intercon. All weekend, hotel-run concessions will be available in the Con Suite, the hotel restaurant will be open, and the cafe will be available. In addition, several of the Intercon-run social events will have light catering, including the Mad Tea Party on Thursday, the Friday Night Pajama & Pizza Party and, of course, the Sunday Sundae Social. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights we’ll have a bartender available near Ops from 10PM to 1AM. Buying food and drink from the concessions and bartender helps Intercon meet our budget numbers!
Have a free timeslot? Want to join a game that needs players due to last-minute drops? Check the Intercon website for games with open slots. Check the Intercon Discord #looking-for-x forum, the front page of the website, or the digital sign in the Con Suite (Grand Foyer) which will show the most up-to-date information.
Are you on the waitlist for a game? Communicate with your GMs about what to do as the game approaches. Keep an eye on the Intercon website and your notifications from it. GMs may also try to contact you personally, especially if a player drops out of the game without updating the website.
Hello beloved Intercon attendees! With X approaching fast, we on the Safety team wanted to take a moment to reach out to all of you.
We know the world is a complicated and overwhelming place for many of us right now. We encourage you to give yourselves and each other some grace; many people are struggling, and how one person is dealing may be completely different than how another is. In light of that, now is a good time to review the convention’s code of conduct and harassment policies. Harassment includes but is not limited to deliberate intimidation, bathroom policing, and prejudiced comments about race, gender, disability, and sexual orientation. Intercon does not tolerate harassment in any form or for any reason. To protect its members and make sure we're all safe to play our fantastic and complicated games together, those engaging in harassing behavior may face consequences up to and including expulsion from the convention.
The Safety Team at Intercon is here to support you, and to give you - all of you, and all of us - a way to handle difficult moments and interactions at Intercon. If you feel something inappropriate has happened, whether to you or to someone in an incident that you witnessed, you can report that to us. You can also just come talk to us if you aren't sure about whether something was acceptable or not! No conversation with a member of Safety will become an official report without your explicit consent. We're happy to just provide space to process and figure out what you need, whether that's water or a walk back to your room. Come talk to us; we're findable around the con. Safety staff have their role noted on their name badge, and a button with “Safety Staff” on it when they're on duty. We can also be reached by calling the phone number listed on the back of your badge, which is always attended to by at least one staff member.
We're looking forward to seeing all of you in a few short weeks!
