Intercon W is coming up quickly, and as we work on the last details for the convention, prepare our costuming, and finish writing our larps, we have a number of announcements for everyone.
One small policy update is that we’ve now provided a definition of ‘mask’ as part of our COVID policies: “A mask is a surgical mask or better (kn94, n95, etc) that is designed for filtering pathogens.” The full text of this, and the rest of the COVID polices can be found at https://w.interconlarp.org/pages/covid.
The hotel had communicated to us at the end of April that we'd have Alfred's Bar for Intercon W, and they'd let us know if that changed, so we had been moving forward with that information. When we sent over the preliminary furniture requests this week, they informed us that we no longer have access to Alfred's, as it's been reopened as a public bar. In light of that, we've had to move some events between rooms to best accommodate everything.
The following events have moved as a result of this change. Note that not all of them were in Alfred’s as some events had to move to optimize space:
Intercon runs on volunteers, and we have a number of departments that could use your help at the convention!
Alongside all the larps at Intercon, there’s also many social events! Intercon itself is running a Welcome Party on Thursday, a Pizza Party and a Masked Dance on Friday, a Masked Lounge Party and Mask-Optional Dance on Saturday with cash bars both nights, and the traditional Ice Cream Social on Sunday! If you’re interested in attending these, it helps us plan for them if you sign up as Interested on the website, which will also add them to your personal schedule.
You can see a full list of social events and meetups on the front page of the website!
We've got some great topics on our Forum@Intercon schedule, both Thursday evening and Friday morning! You can check them out on the website. But there's room for more! Got a LARP-related topic you're interested in presenting or discussing? An idea for a workshop or a brainstorming session? We'd love to hear about it! Submit it here: https://w.interconlarp.org/pages/forum
We have a store with Intercon W branded items and clothing! Like last year, you can buy things from the store to be shipped directly to you before the convention. (or after, for a limited time.)
After every Intercon, we have an Intercon Community Meeting, which serves as a wrap-up for the con that has just happened, and a kickoff for the next Intercon! At that meeting we also elect new NEIL Board members for a two year term. This year, the Community meeting will be on March 16th at 2pm. (Calendar Event) Come make your thoughts heard, and get involved in the upcoming convention and the NEIL community at large. If you have a proposal for the NEIL Board, wish to self-nominate for a NEIL Board position, or have any other questions, please contact the current NEIL President, Alison Joy.
